1979 Alien Concept Ship

Here is a picture from the 2011 Wonderfest Model Convention that was held in Louisville, KY this past weekend. It is basically the MAIN sci-fi model convention in the country.

I was trolling around on the internet and found this. Someone, (I don't know who) built a model of the Leviathan. It's hard to say, but I think it must have been build from scratch. I know a little about sci-fi kits, and I have never seen this in production. This kit must have been built just using the old artwork and sketches from the pre-production folks at Brandywine back in the day. Here is a pic:

Here is another one. Check out how BIG it is!

I don't know how you guys feel, but this really kicks some butt. I'd love to score this puppy. What a great find. Here is a link to the photobucket page:

Scroll down towards the bottom, and there are several more pics of this. Take your time. There are several Alien and Predator models to check out. Talk about having a piece of the movie right on your own shelf!!

BTW: for you who don't know, this almost made it to production and would have been the lander craft from Alien, if the Nostromo would have been bumped. It appears in some old books like "The Making of Alien" just as paintings and color drawings. It's pretty cool that someone made it into a plastic 3-D model!!

This might be the creator of the Leviathan model. His name is Phil Salton.

By the way, this is NOT my Photobucket picture page. I don't want to take credit for the model OR the pics!

Quick update: this model that appeared at the 2011 Wonderfest was built by the ORIGINAL model designer/builder of the Nostromo seen in the film! I think his name is Martin Bower.
