There are pros and cons to both. Multiplyer now drives games! Look at Bioshock and dead space! They were great games, but they were forced to have mulitplayer to reach a bigger audience!

Perhaps some co-op survival mode, but nothing more
From the looks of things that is what the game will be based on and I really like the idea of co-op gameplay which is a confirmed aspect of the game. Like I said in a different thread it sounds like it will be a "Brothers In Arms" type game where the squad AI can be replaced by actual players. There have been rumors based on early comments from Gearbox (the Game Informer issue back in 2008) that competitive multiplayer gameplay will be included as well.

I guess I just long to be able to play as an Alien and so far only the AvP franchise has done that. That is not to say I want that for Colonial Marines since the marines themselves should be the main focus of this game. I was just so disappointed with the most recent installment of AvP. Makes me want to get AvP 2 again and make a multiplayer squad going. I still see servers hosting it here and there; talk about your staying power! Especially when multiplayer titles these days go out of style within a year due to a sequel or another, superior title being released.

EDIT: Totally forgot but according to the Wikipedia page, the Game Informer article back in '08 did mention a gamemode in Colonial Marine's multiplayer something along the lines of the Gloom mod for Quake II. If true that means there would be opponent gameplay featuring all kinds of Xenos. Can someone, anyone confirm this was present in said article? I know it's a way back but if it is that would be a kick ass gamemode. Starting off as a facehugger and leveling up to some big bad bugs would be quite awesome.

I still play on 360, not many others do though. Looks like it's been abandoned for Reach.

I played it for about a week, then my 2 year old got ahold of it and lost it somewhere in the house. I havent looked for it yet. I feel really bad saying that. Kind of like I'm not a true fan of the franchise or something. It wasnt a bad game...just not what I wanted.

Everything about this game should have made this the best FPS ever in the history of FPS. It's like Rebellion just pumped it out to make a quick buck. If a game company does it's homework and actually looks at successful FPS games in the past.........it should be a no brainier. The formula is already there..they know what people want and expect. Everything is there for the perfect game. It's just not.

And speaking of a perfect franchise to make a kick ass action game out of, Starship Troopers would be fantastic if they made a new game. (well...if they made it right) Unfortunately, I dont think the franchise has enough steam to push a blockbuster type game out. It would be great though. On a side note...I have Starship Troopers in the DVD player in my car right now. Its always on when I drive somewhere for the past month. LOL.

I know what you mean. There was so much potential, and we got disjointed crap instead of a huge game. Maybe we've been spoilt by the Halflifes and FEARs out there.

I can't imagine Rebellion expected such a negative return on their game, but it was kinda crap. Looked good. Played okay. It's just something was missing.
