They had a jury-rigged flamethrower and a fishing net and a cattle-prod. They didn't have lasers. It was a mining vessel. They has no weapons on board.
"THEY" couldn't kill it because they lacked the means to do so. That is a far cry from unkillable.

Those weapons were lasers, Scott already said that.
In any case, then why It didn,t die or explode when ripley started the engine?, 5600ēC plasma degree is a lot more than two or three pulse rifle bursts. I don,t know about you, but I,m sure that,s enough to disintegrate anything. The alien is the perfect organism because: -It quickly adapts to any environment, and this includes surviving in a vacuum. -Couldn,t be destroyed with weapons, nukes or slingshots as you wish, but It couldn,t. The only way to stop one of this things in case of infection was to contain It until It dies in a matter of days like Scott said (about It living just for a matter of days). Jockey,s weren,t fools. |

Did we watch the same movie? Because I'm watching it now and there are no lasers being taken to the derelict. They have flashlights, that's it.
Anyway, I'll quote the section you're referring to about Ash saying the Xeno is unkillable: RIPLEY How do we kill it. ASH I don't think you can. Not in this ship, given its life support systems. But I might be able to. RIPLEY How. ASH I don't know quite yet. I'm not exactly at my best at the moment. If you would reconnect... RIPLEY No way. ASH Don't be so hasty. You'll never kill it without my help. RIPLEY We've had enough of your help. ASH You've barely got any oxygen left. If you don't go into hypersleep, you'll die with or without the Alien. RIPLEY Nice try, Ash. ASH I will do whatever I can to help you. I swear it. PARKER Pull the plug. LAMBERT I agree. ASH You idiots. You still don't realize what you're dealing with. The Alien is a perfect organism. Superbly structured, cunning, quintessentially violent. With your limited capabilities you have no chance against it. LAMBERT You admire it. ASH How can one not admire perfection. I will kill it because I am programmed to protect human life as you know. RIPLEY Even if you have contempt for it. ASH Even then. Bitter and angry. RIPLEY Sorry Ash. I don't buy it. ASH You egocentric morons. You'll be ripped to shreds, destroyed and... Ripley make a movement. Ash softens... ASH I can only wish you well... Ripley pulls the plug. PARKER He was probably right. We do need him. RIPLEY He was conning us. LAMBERT He was programmed to protect human life. RIPLEY He wasn't protecting our human lives and that's all I care about. Anyway it's done.

No, that is innaccurate-
-it is this: Ripley: Ash, can you hear me? *Ash*? Ash: Yes, I can hear you. Ripley: What was your special order? Ash: You read it. I thought it was clear. Ripley: What was it? Ash: Bring back life form. Priority One. All other priorities rescinded. Parker: The damn company. What about our lives, you son of a bitch? Ash: I repeat, all other priorities are rescinded. Ripley: How do we kill it Ash? There's gotta be a way of killing it, how, *how* do we do it? Ash: You can't. Parker: That's bullshit. Ash: You still don't understand what you're dealing with, do you? Perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility. Lambert: You admire it. Ash: I admire its purity. A survivor... unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality. Parker: Look, I am - I've heard enough of this, and I'm asking you to pull the plug. Ash: [Ripley goes to disconnect Ash, who interrupts] Last word. Ripley: What? Ash: I can't lie to you about your chances, but... you have my sympathies. |
