Well I think the size is about right it is just how they move and act that looks dumbed down. However it is too early to say at this point, I just hope these Xeno's provide more of a challenge in the actual game then what we are seeing in the E3 demo. What you mentioned about the "close encounter" segment is what I was getting at. Engaging the xenos at close range is exactly what got Drake killed in the "Aliens" film due to the acid spray. In the close encounter we saw the shotgun blast conveniently caused the blood splatter of the xeno to fly away from the player. At the very least there should have been a few drops or something to cause the player character, "Winter", some stress.
P.S. Never understood your "loolaliens" nonsense.

Its also a shame they didnt implement a modified or different health system so it could incorperate injuries. The acid impaired the movement of a few ppl during the films. The L4D game has the older 100 counter for health and reduces your movement speed the lower your health gets in 25 point increments.

Well that may happen because you are having nerdgasm spasms anytime you watch the trailer; these nerdgasmic attacks caused by fanboyism reaching laughable levels may also prevent you from paying the slightest bit of attention to the things that truly matter. I think this is what you would be usually calling nitpicking or something like that.

I thought it looked really good.... except the part where they are in the ops center...Idk it seemed like it was missing something....music or back round noise...Also I didn't like how two guys killed like 7-10 aliens when they are ambushed. I always pictured a situation like that would have 3 or 4 aliens and they would use scare tactics instead of just rushing the two men.

Well. I've watched it again a couple of times and it still looks like some bullshit. I am NOT trolling. Nobody's getting burned by acid blood. That's my biggest problem. Other problems include: The shotgun reload. Click, click, click. Really? Is that what it really looks like when you reload a shotgun? No. (I own one, so I know what it really looks like.) The sound effects are not quite "there" yet, are they? The "crusher" looks like something they just threw in there because they had to compete with other games that had monster that were more "gnarly". What's wrong with just warriors and (the) Queen? Facehuggers? Sure! There should be lots of them, but we don't see any. If this is what they've got so far than they're setting up for a massive failure. The environment and game mechanics still need a lot of work if they're going to live up to "Aliens"...

"Look into my eye" Seriously though I see what you mean about the xeno's crawling on all fours too much. Although frankly it is not that different from what we saw in "Aliens". Or did you wish xeno's are portrayed more like the creature in "Alien"? Really they need to be tall but skinny in order to be imposing on their legs but fast and small enough to climb through futuristic industrial vents. I just want to understand what your ideal for the aliens design are. I don't recall having a nerdgasam, I just really want this game we have waited for too long to be worth it (especially after the mediocre AvP). So I try to keep an optimistic face about this title that is only now revealing it's content. Besides I find some of the negative reactions overblown or unfounded, whereas other criticisms I totally agree have merit. Quote:

As for the sound I agree the shotgun sounds off even if it is supposed to be a fictional future model. The previous trailer showing gameplay had the pulse rifle sound right but it looks like they spliced some footage from the E3 demo in and perhaps put the intented sound over it. Remmember the E3 demo says it is a "work in progress" so sound is probably one of those things they need to tie down. On the subject of the "crusher", It may seem a little uninspired (a "preatorean runner" as Mustafuck pointed out). Yet I think Gearbox is trying to play it safe while adding a new creature to the mix. Many people responding the xeno's we saw in 2010's AvP and interviewing Pitchford to this game, talked with nostalgia concerning the weird and wacky subspecies from the Kenner toy line. I suspect Gearbox is trying to cater to that nostalgia, while also trying to add as many new or unseen material to this game as possible. Remember "Aliens" was released in 1986 and the director's cut has been out for some time now. Gearbox are working with well worn material here so they want to add as many unique elements as possible to keep players interested without going "yawn seen this all before, game over man".

I think I will pass on that particular treatment doc.

Perhaps one reason the xeno's size changes across mediums is because they are often cloaked in darkness or appear in silhouette in the films. Especially so in the first two films. Yet you get a good look at the one creature's size when it corners Lambert in "Alien" . So yeah I totally forgot how big those suckers can get. They still look quite tall when they stand in games like Colonial Marines but they do seem a bit slim don't they? I mean the original actor who portrayed the xeno was tall and lanky too but the suit gives the creature more mass. It is supposed to be lanky but broad as it were.

Nice pics, be nice if the Aliens were like that. but i'm not holding my breath.
Here's hoping that they just wanted to get something out for the E3 (stole my friggin initials basterds ) With any luck Gearbox will read from our site for ideas and inspirations. Surviving an ambush by a Xeno is lucky, a groud of them your God's best bud. 2 Marines could maybe take a Xeno each....maybe, but any more no. I am also hoping that the Aliens get a bit more bulk to them, they do look a tad thin. And the "duel" between ur character and a Xeno does look weak to me. I know you already stated but i've got a couple cents too lol. Again, acid damage is nonexistant, which for a Xeno tips the game unfairly in our favor. This is hopefully getting fixed AWT, or they will be taking away the scariest part of a Xeno game: A deadly perfect killing machine in melee range. My first instinct would be fire and back away to avoid the inevitable splash of burn-thru-all blood. But if this doesn't get addressed, what stopping us from throwing caution to the wind and actually Advance during an Alien assault? Ya I said the "A" word, not the "R" or "D" word. God help them if you can run and gun here. All in all, demo to me shows off to a decent start.

During the commentary Pitchford mentions the acid blood as a hazard but I am guessing the demo is either on "easy" or the xeno's were once again nerfed.
