Aliens: Colonial Marines

According to sources, the next issue of EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) informs us that Aliens Colonial Marines will not see the light of day until 2012.

In this issue there is an interview with Randy Pitchford(Gearbox). In summary:

Despite what some people might say, I think this is a good thing! All of the big games, like Batman, Gears, and Elder scrolls are coming out in late 2011, which would be around the same time A:CM would be released. I think that if A:CM would have been released at the end of 2011, then it would not have been able to compete with those big games and gotten the sales it deserves! I hope it comes out in Q1 2011, when everyone will be sick of those big games and A:CM can swoop in and be a giant blockbuster!

If this rumor is true then it is likely SEGA and Gearbox wish to stay the release of Colonial Marines until shortly before or after the release of Ridley Scott's Alien prequel(s?). By a marketing standpoint that would probably be the best thing to do as it avoids competition with many of the big games Bigapps mentioned at the end of 2011 and will be on the shelves when interest in the franchise will be at an all time high.

they never actually said 2012, so the game might come out in 2013. so this game may become like duke and take tons of time to produce. Maybe not 14 years but still long time. Hope not.

People seem to think this is a long wait but games like halo took this long to produce (halo one was being made for 5-6 years, because it changed formats from Rts to fps) and look at the success it became.

I hope so! Looks like we will know the final details when he makes the announcement! I think we could have a ray of light, but just like the marines after encountering the aliens..... I'm cautious and afraid! lol

uuff, I was starting to believe that Sega's VP latest words were going to be something like this hahah:

"Yes yes ACM fanatics, we are proud to announce that in two months we will inform you the game is beign delayed again till 2011; hey, don't say we don't talk about this game"

Thanks RedAce for that hopeful article. Hopefully we will get more confirmation one way or another on what the hell is happening with this game's release date. I am frankly not surprised none of the major gaming websites or news outlets have ignored all this news. We have been screwed around by SEGA's PR department for years with this game and unless it is something big and official, I guess most gaming news outlets ignore Colonial Marines rumors.
