If you want to go there: they can make synthetic humans. Why risk human lives at all?

Same answer as today: economics and the value of human life.

As for Wierzbowski, because it's not the same actor I assume it's a relative. The fact that it's a relative of a minor character makes it all the more awesome to me.

Lol ya I love how Gorman sends this unarmed (ya not doing shit with flamethrowers and pistols) into the atmosphere processor where they find very obvious signs that something went wrong.... Taking away their weapons and leaving them utterly defensless is definately something he shouldn've clued in. New officer or not, no excuse!

Gorman didn't send them in unarmed...Ripley pointed it out. So, he didn't pull them out to re-assess...perhaps he was too curious. But there were also civvies only a few dozen yards away, and they might have needed medical attention. I don't think he was 100% wrong in keeping them on the mission...he didn't know what was gonna happen, and he didn't buy that Ripley's Aliens was all that, I'm gonna wager. Nothing some small arms couldn't take out, right?

His major problem was that he wasn't adaptable or flexible to the situation once it got out of control. The human brain can't process new information in a crisis, and he hadn't seen anything like it before, and he froze up.

Not a military man myself, but I'm sure that If I do what Gorman did in the film here in my country, I would have been judged by a military court and then go to prison ASAP. Anyway, Shadow Raptor is the guy who know about these things, at least from the Canadian Army. Can you confirm Raptor If Gorman (in case he would have survived) would have been put to justice because leaving his men unarmed, and so many of them dying?

You can't just leave your boys unarmed whatever the situation. Your weapon is your life. Cameron went too far and very unrealistic with Gorman's retardation.

"Hey we can't fire in there, the reactor may blow"- Ok, then get the boys back to the tank again, and send a bot (or a synthetic) to see what's happening right in there while we devise another plan of attack.

It could have been that simple imo.

They had weapons, they just didn't have their full complement. They all had service pistols and some had flame units. And to reiterate...the blips on their radar were right in front of them. Only meters away. It was worth the risk from that perspective.

I wouldn't have done it, but I have the benefit of hindsight and knowing what they were walking into.

Depends on whose universe: in the Aliens, i can't really see him getting nailed for anything. He didn't order the killing of Xenos; a plus in the Company books.

I'm not high on the military chain and not a guarantee for sure on what the current military would do, but i can take a rough educated guess.

If nowadays someone did that yes he would have IMO. Due to the damage, and the evidence they found while securing the facility its impossible to deny that something THEY KNEW about was loose. They had live facehuggers, so they obviously would need their personal weapon (pistol doesn't count, intended only as a back up if out of ammo for ur main and the flamethrower is more a support weapon i feel, and a poor one at that).

Granted the troops also could have taken that as an unsafe order and told him to fuck himself. Troops can get ordered into situation where they can be killed, but you have to make sure they have all the equipment they (reasonably) need to complete their objectives.

Even if they made it the incubation chamber (without getting attacked ofc) to either recover the bodies or whatever; the first thing u do is set a perimeter for you to work in. I'm not a military strategist, but how the hell are you going to hold anything with service pistols, a few flamethrowers and a shotgun.

So yes, in MY opinion yes he would be charged; if he served in the Forces; in Canada. Like I said I don't know the military law THAT well lol.

I'll ask my Chain of Command to see what they think and let you know.
