The praetorian-runner?, fail. Waiting for their new drone to see If they GB have created a new breed that is decent.

^ Agrees. I think it would be great to introduce a little more variety (: ...Only if it makes biological sense of course.

We wouldn't need more variety If the aliens we have already seen in the films were made properly.
Still having interest on how their new drone will be and will look like. According to Cameron, the alien drone should be just like the warrior, a ridged head but smaller in size; so If we follow that rule then It should be around 2'00 meters tall, just like the trololol avp2010 alien warriors and most of the warriors we are used to fighting in all aliens games but THOSE FROM INFESTATION, of course. Long ago rumors also pointed to something similar to avp:extinction carrier, a goddamn good looking and creepy alien btw. Last edited by Mustafuck; 01-22-2012 at 06:27 PM. |

I agree, Musta, that the warrior needs some work if they're going for the "true sequel to the movie" look, but in a videogame the truth is you need some enemy variety otherwise the player gets kinda... bored. Now I would definitely say that this is mostly for the casual gaming crowd (as I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say that the fans would be more than happy with just a few aliens done right), but can you blame gearbox for needing to widen their target audience? I know I can't since, fan service or not, it's still a business.
Anyway xD just my opinion.

Resurrection did just fine with eggs, drones, an occasional warrior, facehuggers, and a Queen.
Well...it was a scary game. I wouldn't say it was a GOOD game, but it didn't break many universal rules. |

It is not a bad idea for a boss character but still kind of uninspired. It looks very much like a "preatorian runner" as Musta mentioned and it reminds me of the "Bull Alien" from Kenner toys - ironic since many fans wanted to see such strange hybrids in AvP. Call me old fashioned but give me the good old warriors any day. Just change their appearance based on the films and make the different types behave differently, giving some tactical variety to the marine's encounters. From what I heard Gearbox are doing something like this but only with two classes.

The casual is the cancer of the video-game industry rather than Its salvation, and here we are witnessing the next franchise to fall to them, aliens (we saw it already in avp2010, this is just part2). I'm sick of witnessing every good franchise being literally obliterated just to suit the needs of the lazy. Fuck that, but hey just my opinion too. |
