Yeah I think similarly. It took the Jorden family one week to reach the ship, so we can assume that is hundreds and hundreds of kilometers away from the colony (add how hard the terrain conditions were). The nuclear blast had an area of effect of around 40KM. Also remember the incredible ammount of mountains and mountain chains in that moon. One of the images in "Alien" of the crashed ship says It all, I mean, the ship was in fact resting in the middle of a mountain chain, and that means total protection against any nuke blast, though I insist the ship was too far away from the range of any nuke blast taking place at HH.
Anyway, the hull of the ship seemed to have been breached by volcanic activity bellow It (the Acheron moon wa obviously a young planetoid), which means the ship was not immune to damage.
