First level tutorial?

This game is just made for the intro tutorial. I can't wait to stand on a (freezing) floor to be bawled out by the sarge and pushed into some quick training/weapons exercises, hearing the others complain around me as we run through the drills and earn our cornbread. Think that's how it'll go? I'm thinking something like Half Life: Opposing Force...

I don't think that will happen. You're more likely to be thrown in and receive contextual help via on screen messages or tooltips as you progress through an (easy-ish) first level. Many people skip a tutorial and lots of games I see now eschew that kind of obvious training system for an intuitive control interface (all FPS games play the same!) and help when it's needed.

Yeah, I know. Just sayin' that the atmosphere will be so much greater if there's a lot of lock' n' loading and boo-yahing and listen-up-marine stuff beforehand. Gen Y attention span probably precludes it though.

I hope "gen Y" ignores this game completely. I'm not looking forward to their internet bitching next year. Remind me to avoid gamefaqs.
