I love the idea of getting access to the ship's hardware. Those were some of the coolest parts of Dead Space and Republic Commando (blast from the past, there xD). Kudos to that idea!

If this is supposed to be happening shortly after alien3, then the ship should still be returning to earth, but I wouldn't be that sure about that because the "return to earth" thing about the human ships was known in A:R only, I mean, a joke film that never ever really happened in the mind of an aliens fan with a healthy mind.

I still can't understand what we should be able to find aboard the Sulaco other than a couple of empty eggs. GB and Fox are about to mess It all up good, specially about the colony being still there, the crusher, etc. But well since this is just a game, and considering how cool the mission aboard a similar ship to the Sulaco was in AVP'99, then I can imagine a nice creepy atmosphere on our first mission aboard It, everything in that legendary Cameron's dark blue, the ship vents, etc. Maybe It is all about one single alien stalker when we are aboard. Something similar to an old idea I posted of the Giger alien as a final boss aboard our CM mother ship (after having stalked you and your squad the entire game). Nevertheless, I very much doubt GB is going for something like this. |

I'm pretty certain they will feature the Sulaco. It's too iconic to be missed out.

No asteroid defense. That was not cool in Dead Space at all.

oh I liked the asteroids moment in dead space hehe, and also liked zero-jump way more than free flying in ds2

According to previews you and the rest of the marines will find the Sulaco back at LV-426. When I first heard about this I was disappointed as it sounded like Gearbox didn't do their homework (whatever opinion you may have of Alien 3). According to the ending of Aliens the Sulaco was heading back to Earth but ended up derelict because of the fire onboard so it should have either continued towards Earth or be abandoned in the same system as Fiorina 161. I tend to think it was the latter. However in more recent previews, Gearbox has said part of the storyline is indeed the mystery of how the Sulaco returned to LV-426's orbit (and presumambly why their are alien survivors on the planet surface). I have a feeling the ship was moved there by a faction in Weyland-Yutani who are trying to salvage the destroyed colony of Hadley's Hope for research on the aliens that attacked it. Obviously things get worse.
I agree about learning more about the Sulaco as a warship because that is obviously what it is (nuke from orbit!). Gearbox said they have created areas of the ship we have already seen and some we have not. I would like to see a command area whether a bridge or somesuch as well as the Sulaco's engines or weaponry. I am sure we will go all over the vessel in the search for answers.

i think they will be adding to much extra info that we dont need if they let us use the hardware of the sulaco. i am hoping they expand the universe. maybe stop a small rebellion on a planet or a dictator is getting to much power etc

Nothing makes sense for the Sulaco...but it hasn't since '92, so I'm curious where they go with it. |
