Yeah Obsidian was risky indeed, but so was Rebellion too because we already knew about the poor gameplay capabilities of the Asura engine from Rogue Warrior. The only medium to nice developer I have ever seen making an aliens game is GB, though games like A:R; Alien trilogy, Jaguar
AVP and
AVP'99 were also developed by mediocre/medium companies and the surprise in all those games was more than well received, at least to me. Imho, both A:R for the first PSX and
AVP'99 are still greatest aliens games ever made, and I'm still even playing Electric dreams "Aliens" from time to time with my Amstrad CPC emulator..., now that was a nice game for Its time, even scary at some certain points, specially when the colony lights go off
I wouldn't put my money on this new game, though It was a pleasant surprise to hear It will have a lot of elements of alien rather than elements of the second movie. This is new to me and It was about time.
