My take on AVP for Playstation 3

Well..I stated before in the "what do you think about AVP Demo" thread that I was disappointed in the game. While the demo did have me a bit angry at Sega and Rebellion, I am happy to say that the full game is much much better!

My brother came over the other night and surprised me by buying me a copy of AVP for my PS3. He has it for Xbox 360 and knew that I wouldn't buy it right away due to my ranting...so he went out and bought me a copy as a gift. What a swell guy!!

What I really like about this game is the campaign. The Marine campaign is really creepy and has you on the edge of your seat due to the fact that at any moment you could get killed, or something could jump out and scare you. I think the super limited visibility with the shitty flashlight is perfect. The guy from Game informer magazine is a total jackass IMO after I played this game. I'm positive the game makers WANTED it to be like this. If everything was just lit up, then the sense of horror would be stripped of the game. The Aliens saga was meant as a horror movie, and so should the game be. The team did a great job of this. Also, last time I chimed in, I was really bitching about the graphics. Well...it seems that the graphics on the full game are pretty damn good. The aliens and Predators seem to have a lot more detail, and the environment is much richer. Still not as good as a lot of the next gen games out there, but I'm not complaining any more.

As for the Multi-player, its pretty good. Enough for me to crave playing it again and again. I really like infestation mode, Predator hunt, and Domination. The Predator hunt is a pretty unique mode that currently has my attention the most. Also, I'm glad that it's much easier finding a match to get into with the full game. The demo seemed to have a lot of trouble finding a match. I wish that the game did have more multiplayer levels in it (mostly more urban environments like seen in the Aliens movies), but I'm sure that if ACM comes out, then that will satisfy my craving.

All in all, I think this game is a winner to Alien and Predator fans.

I'm sure this post states stuff that everyone already knows, but I had to let it off my chest.

On a side note, it seems that they are playing the movie Aliens on TV a lot lately. At least once a week I can find it on the TV while channel surfing. I wonder if this has anything to do with the game being released. Probably not, but I think its pretty cool.
